POLICY

COVID-19 is a global pandemic which has introduced a potentially significant health and business risk.


SA Health Protecting Services endeavours to follow COVID-19 Regulations in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.


An employer is obligated to take any reasonable action to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.

These steps include elimination or mitigation of any hazard or potential hazard, providing instructions, information, training and supervision as well as the enforcement of such measures as may be required in the interest of health and safety.


The purpose of the policy is to set out guidelines to manage communication, control access to the Company, prevention of and the reaction to the COVID-19 infections.


This Policy is used to assess:


1. the potential risk of exposure to SARS-CoV-2 virus,

2. current control measures and

3. provide recommendations to management


The objectives of this is to:


a. identify and assess potential risk of exposure to SARS-CoV-2 virus at the workplace

b. identify control measures (or the absence of control measures) and assess their effectiveness to prevent exposure

c. inform the management of the risk of potential exposure to SARS-CoV-2 virus and additional controls that might be required.


Steps to be taken / followed:


1. education and awareness to staff members of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and its impact

2. a Form is to be completed before entering (name / ID / Cell Number / temperature / other questions pertaining to overall health) for traceability purposes

3. wearing of PPE (masks / goggles / face shields or visors / gloves where required)

4. taking of temperatures to evaluate staff / visitors entering the areas

5. sanitisation of hands either by hand sanitiser or washing with soap and water

6. keeping work areas decontaminated with appropriate disinfectants

7. keeping equipment decontaminated before and after use

8. keeping physical contact (social distancing)

9. taking measures to place barriers / screens where required between staff / staff and visitors

10. have an isolated area set aside for any staff member who becomes ill to separate them from the rest of the staff until they can be dealt with

Responsibilities

It shall be the responsibility of the Top Management Team to establish and maintain policies and procedures and to bring these procedures into effect. It shall be the responsibility of the CEO (Licence Holder) to ensure implementation of these policies and procedures.
