This session brought us together around exploring what could be possible with integrating asynchronous elements during and in between sessions. There is grey area between synchronous and asynchronous - especially when it's used for adult distance facilitation.

I made this list of links by adding a "Table of Contents" on the options when building the page. This way when you come to the page you can see the list of resources available on the page without having to scroll.
Get some more practice hosting Zooms! Be sure you can share just a portion of your screen and successfully share video. Also try annotating!

Creating a screencast means that you first add a Google extension like Loom or download an application like Screencastomatic. Then you hit record and talk while recording your screen. Screencasts are often used as asynchronous material to be shared in between sessions.
Here are just a few ideas of screencasts you could do (you can do anything you want - these are just some ideas!):

your favorite way to solve a math problem on a virtual whiteboard
how to draw certain cursive letters on a virtual whiteboard
the best Pinterest boards for education
review a teaching tool
the best interactive simulations
how to create something in Google Docs
a way you like to organize files

This task is for you to practice making and sharing a screencast.
Screencasts can be especially helpful to share with groups to lower tech anxiety. For example, if you are sharing a new technology or application and you want to the group to see special features they will be asked to use.
Sometimes creating a quick screencast and sending it is easier than writing out a lot of of text! Here is an example screencast that I created for a teacher I was working with in 2020. She wanted to know how to share Padlet with students so I recorded a 3 minute screencast to take her through the steps and it meant that she was successful and was able to use Padlet right away with her students.

Create a Padlet, share with other people, upload to Column 3 in NEW Padlet.
Start a Padlet account by going to www.padlet.com You can make a handful for free, but your task is to make one and upload to our shared Padlet. Once created and shared with others, upload it to Column 3 on New Padlet. Not sure what I'm referring to? Watch the first video at top of this page.
Have fun making your Padlet! Create a grid and send it to friends to gather recipes. Create a map and have friends post their location or dream vacation. Create a timeline and have friends put markers on it to show important shared memories and events.
Use your tools: Google "example Padlets" and check out how folks are using them!
This task is designed to give you practice using Padlet.
Once you create it, you need to share it people and ask them to post/engage with it.

Be ready to engage in breakout room conversation and processing in Session #3 to figure out what you'd like to facilitate via Zoom. Remember you can partner up or even build a group of three facilitators. Consider these questions as you prep for this breakout session next week:
What do you think teachers should be talking about?
What do you think teachers should be learning?
What resources do you think are worth sharing or exploring?
What questions or theme do you want to bring teachers around?
Build this component (an Edpuzzle, a Google Survey, etc.) and post to column 5 in NEW Padlet. If you create questions or prompts to go with a resource please include these in the text of your post.
Take a look at the list of ideas the group came up up with via Jamboard below, and then create a task you could incorporate into a future Zoom session with educators.
Think about the asynchronous tasks you are doing in between sessions for this institute. Use your experiences as an adult learner to help you decide what you want to build.

The possibilities are endless! Don't get caught up on the content. The idea here is to go through the reflection and planning for working with adults as a distance facilitator.
Select a video related to something you want to share and craft two questions for your educators to respond to about the video on their own time.
Provide a link to an article with two questions for participants to respond to as a task.

Create a Google Survey to asses the group's interests or understanding
Create a Flipgrid with a prompt
Have a non-tech task (talk to a colleague about their ideas and be ready to share about your conversation)
