Girls' Angle

Girls’ Angle is a nonprofit math club for girls based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Founded in 2007 by Ken Fan (Ph.D. MIT 1995 and a former Benjamin Pierce Assistant at Harvard), the club offers a comprehensive approach to math education for girls, as well as a supportive community for women and girls who study, use, and create mathematics. The club is regularly seeking extraordinary women Math majors and graduate students to mentor girls (roughly aged 10-15) in a friendly and meaningful way. Mentoring involves getting to know the girls as individuals and figuring out what their relationship is to math, then devising creative ways to effectively help each girl grow in knowledge and understanding of mathematics. Mentors work closely with each other, sharing and developing ideas to ensure that the girls receive high quality instruction.

We plan to involve each year about 3-4  graduate students and 1-2 undergraduate students as mentors in the club’s bi-weekly meetings. If you are interested in participating in the Girls' Angle activities as mentors, please contact Professor Ana-Maria Castravet.
