Once you have finished, you will submit a picture to Schoology!
Metal actually has a very light violet tone to it, not gray. For this assignment, your challenge is to not use ANY BLACK at all when painting your metal surface.
Metal surfaces usually have strong contrasts and harsh lines when they're clean metals.
Once you've drawn your subject and mapped out the shapes being reflected inside, start painting your darkest colors.
Then, block in the rest of your painting with mid tones, then add your final and brightest highlights at the end.
And do not neglect the brightest highlights as these will give your metal a nice realistic shine.
You will mostly be using VERY LIGHT SHADES of violet, so make sure you mix enough paint for your assignment.
On the same page as your value step scales, tone your paper with a light wash of the burnt sienna. This will help warm up the violet.
