Collaborating with teachers to develop and share best practices for integrating employment skills for early career planning with elementary students gives them more time to prepare for postsecondary life with support. It's never too early to begin transition planning.
Family engagement is my focus and passion. I have lead initiatives to improve family involvement by educating family members, and providing opportunities for families to spend time together and learn more about each other. Family members are a major influence in a person's life. Providing culturally responsive practices and and policies are essential to family engagement and student progress, and it is a regular practice for me.

My professional development and priority for transition planning focuses on ensuring students are able to communicate their strengths, needs, interests, and goals. Students are more likely to be successful in postsecondary environments when they have support systems that are knowledgeable about who they are and the supports they need. It is my goal as a transition specialist to ensure the individuals I serve and the members of their support system are well-informed.
