Welcome to Robyn's Nest Transition Services! I am Robyn Mixon-Davis, Ph.D. I have been a special education teacher for over 20 years, and although I have only been a Transition Specialist for the past 3 years, I have provided transition services and experiences for students that have helped them to excel in post-secondary environments. In addition to being a Special Educator, certified to serve students with an emotional, learning, or intellectual disability, I am a certified psychology teacher. I have also completed the MAPS, mapping assets for postschool success training. This means I have some experience with creating personalized digital maps within a community.
My teaching philosophy is: "You will achieve your dream when it becomes your goal!"
This philosophy accurately describes my view for my professional growth which is to provide meaningful transition services which help learners make seamless transition into postsecondary environments and achieving their definition of success.
My training in person-centered planning emphasizes the central role of the individual as the focal point in their plan. By prioritizing a person's unique talents, skills, needs, and aspirations, the individual's plan fosters greater engagement from the community and life satisfaction for the individual as they transition to postsecondary work and personal life. Effective person-centered planning, also, recognizes the critical role of collaboration with the individual’s family, friends, and community connections. Building these relationships creates a supportive network that helps the individual integrate into a community and culture that embraces their goals and values their contributions. My approach to planning is a holistic, ecological perspective empowers individuals to thrive by aligning their personal aspirations with the resources and opportunities available within their environment, ensuring meaningful success and inclusion.
