Early Blight is the fungal pathogen Alternaria solani which produces a disease tomato and potato plants showing a distinctive "bullseye" patterned leaf spots. It can also cause stem lesions and fruit rot on tomato and tuber blight on potato. Despite the name "early," foliar symptoms usually occur on older leaves.
Late Blight is the water mold (oomycete) Phytophthora infestans , a micro organism which causes serious disease in potato and tomato plants.
