Who are we?

The city of Saint Chamond (37 000 inhabitants) is located in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region in the center of France, 10 kilometers away from Saint Etienne and 40 kilometers away from Lyon. Saint Chamond has an industrial past but it is gradually changing. The city center is very lively and has a lot of shops. It is an ideal starting point to visit the natural points of interest as well as the historical and architectural attractions of the region.

Ennemond Richard school is in the city center of Saint Chamond in the Loire Département. The school has 4 different class levels (6th grade to 3rd grade) and the students are between 11 and 15 years old. There is a SEGPA section for the low ability students and an ULIS section for the students with learning disorders. There are about 700 students. The population of the school is very diverse since children from different origins and different social backgrounds work together every day.

The students learn English as a foreign language and they must add a second foreign language to their curriculum three years before leaving for high school: German, Italian or Spanish.

Grosuplje is a small town (about 7,000 inhabitants) located in the central part of Slovenia, 15 kilometres south of the capital city Ljubljana in the region Lower Carniola. Grosuplje municipality is bigger and includes 67 villages with altogether around 20,000 inhabitants. The town is not very big, but has two primary schools, a big library, a town hall and the surrounding areas that offer several possibilities for a tourist to discover natural habitat and historically important points of the region.

Primary school Brinje is located close to a small river Grosupeljščica. Pupils who attend school are from 6 – 15 years old and we have 9 different class levels (the youngest going to class 1) with more than 700 pupils. Our school also has a section for Special Needs Children and few kilometres away there is our subsidiary school Polica. Our school also has a big gym and nice playground area, since we consider sport a very important part of our students’ lives.

Our pupils start learning English in class 1 (aged 6) and they have several lessons of English every year. In class 4 they can optionally add another foreign language (usually this is German). They also have a possibility to learn Spanish this year.
