Naval Junior Reserve Officers
Training Corps
The Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps is a youth program that instills citizenship, patriotism, and leadership potential into middle school and high school students throughout the United States. Our curriculum emphasizes citizenship and leadership development, as well as our maritime heritage, the significance of sea power, and naval topics such as the fundamentals of naval operations, seamanship, navigation, and meteorology. Classroom instruction is augmented throughout the year by community service activities, drill competitions, field meets, flights, visits to naval activities, marksmanship training, and other military training. Uniforms, textbooks, training aids, travel allowances, and a substantial portion of instructors' salaries are provided by the Navy.
Reseda NJROTC was established in 1995. In those 30 years, it has set the standard by winning a plethora of accolades as well as touching the lives of countless students. We offer the opportunity to participate in various teams such as Armed and Unarmed Regulation drill, Armed and Unarmed Exhibition drill, Color Guard, and Academics. We are also one of the hand full of units that has both a CyberPatriot teams and a Marksmanship team, both being two of our most prestigious teams.
Throughout the year, cadets participate in community service events, competitions against other NJROTCs, and other yearly events. We also have events over the summer such as Leadership Academy, Sail Academy, & our own Summer Practices.
Cadets are taught various valuable skills that they can use for the rest of their lives. We teach self-discipline, physical fitness, leadership, and other important skills that won't be found in the average classroom. Among these principles, we hold these three closest to our hearts:
Honor, Courage, and Commitment!
