Janet and I spent just short of 3 weeks in Germany learning about a 600 year old brewing tradition known as "Zoigl" in the Oberpfalz region of northeastern Bavaria. (We've been homebrewing since 2010.) We also visited with my family in Cologne and, as always, had a wonderful time.
Last week, my Ableton mentor Dr. J. Anthony Allen and I met over Zoom to figure out the best way to layout all the clips that the tech soloists will trigger during the performance. My original concept was to have a separate file for each of the three movements. J's advice was to build all 3 movements into one Live "Set". This presented what I thought would be a problem since each of the movements has a different tempo. "No problem", said my mentor! Below is an expanded version of my Sibelius to Live sync test using the actual tempos of each movement: 1) 92 bpm; 2) 60 bpm; 3) 96 bpm. While Sibelius is sending the trigger notes to Live, I mapped two pads on the soloist's MIDI controller to change the tempo. As you can see from the demo video everything works!
And here is a "Proof-of-concept" video demostrating the 'tech' soloists triggering Ableton clips in real-time! Based on these examples, it's time to move out the testing phase and begin composing re-synth!
