Before giving our MMEA presentation, I needed to compile the survey results.
Performers and audiences from both the High School Honor Band and WSU perfornances were given the opportunity to share their thoughts along with some demographic information either online or on paper.
Of the approximately 125 performers, 53 (42%) responded. I was pleased with how many of the students took time to share their thoughts.
Of the nearly 800 folks who attended one or both of the performances the response rate of 108 (14%) was rather disappointing but not unexpected.
Many of the comments were enthusiatic and encouraging. A number of audience members mentioned balance problems, most of which were corrected before the second performance.
My favorite audience comment … "Thank you Legacy Ammendmant!"

A group of 24 Minnesota Music Educators joined myself, Dr. Aaron Lohmeyer, Dr. Janet, Heukeshoven, and four talented Winona State University Music Education majors at the Minnesota Music Educators Association's Mid-winter conference on February 13, 2025 in the Minneapolis Convention Center.
It was an honor to be able to share the re-synth project at this conference.
A copy of the presentation slides and photos from the event are on the MMEA page.
Three performances and a LOT of learning – for the students and for the composer!
Today, I submitted my final report to the Minnesota State Arts Board, thus completing my first Creative Individuals grant.
The journey that began almost a year ago isn't over. Several schools who attended the MMEA Informance are interested in performing re-synth.
And later this spring, I will be creating a Music Tech lab Bluffview Montessori School in Winona with equipment donated from the project.
I'll report back then, but for now it's on to other endeavors.
