We are a locally run charity, led by volunteers, providing safe, therapeutic horse-based activities for people with disability.

Our Team
As a small, volunteer-run organisation, we rely on our committee to manage and operate Kendall RDA, support our coaches and volunteers, and ensure our horses are happy and healthy
Our Coaches’
It takes a very dedicated person to become an RDA Coach, and we’re very lucky to have our wonderfully dedicated Coaches at RDA Kendall.
Our Coaches are all volunteers who have completed the extensive practical and theory training required to become accredited at various levels within RDA (NSW).
They must be Certified First Aiders and keep up with all mandatory requirements. Including workshops and practical hours to maintain their coaching credentials.
The Coach-of-the-day is responsible for preparing therapy lesson plans for each of our riders. Each rider’s progress is monitored, with programs adapted as needed throughout the term.
Coaches are also involved in training new volunteers, as well as selecting and working with new horses. Many hours go into determining whether a horse has that ‘something special’ needed for our program.
At RDA Kendall, our Coaches take the lead in all horse-related matters at the Centre - from training and care to feeding and overall welfare.
Be a Volunteer
RDA Kendall Centre is run entirely by volunteers.
As a volunteer, you can choose to assist in a variety of roles - from supporting our riders in their activities, feeding the horses and cleaning their yards, grooming, helping with maintenance of our grounds, gardens, and buildings, to cleaning, promoting the Centre, fundraising, and administrative tasks.
You are guided through an induction and training process to help you feel confident and comfortable with our procedures, along with hands-on support for any role you're interested in - there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and grow!
No prior horse experience or knowledge of disabilities is necessary. There are many ways to be part of the team, including roles that don’t involve direct work with horses.
Without a horse there is nothing
It takes a very special horse to become an RDA horse and we very lucky to have our incredible team.
All horses have a trial period where the Coaches work with the horse and observe their behaviour, how they react around children and adults, and being groomed and tacked.
They are introduced to our activities equipment and participate being led in mock classes, all before being officially welcomed into the program.
Without our incredible team of horses, we would not be able to provide our therapy classes.
