What Makes an RDA Horse⬇️
It takes a special horse to become part of the RDA program, and not every horse is suited to the role.
Finding a horse with a calm, willing nature and that “special something” takes time and experience. Each prospective horse then undergoes a thorough trial and assessment by our coaches.

Their Role ⬇️
The role asks a great deal of our horses. They must remain calm and responsive with different handlers and participants with varying physical and intellectual abilities, amid the activity of a busy Centre.
Those selected need to be sensible, willing, patient and well-mannered, with the temperament to work safely with people of all ages, abilities and confidence levels.

Assessment ⬇️
Before joining RDA Kendall, each horse is taken on trial and gradually introduced to the Centre.
Coaches assess each horse’s response to all aspects of RDA life: grooming, riding, people, other horses, equipment, movement and sound.
Mock classes help determine its suitability for participant sessions.
This process determines whether RDA is the right environment, with safety, suitability and the horse’s wellbeing guiding every decision.
