A Family Prayer Before Reading the Word of God

Our Father and Lord, as night falls and the long day calls people home to spend quiet time together as a family, we enter into the silence of our hearts to listen to your word.

We need to hear you; we need to listen to you. We are weary of so many false and too human messages. We now take your Scriptures to pray together as a family, because it does us good to recall your salvation history and listen to the Good News of your Kingdom.

Grant us your light so we can grasp your message in our hearts. We know you are the Way, the Truth and the Life; help us to understand what this means. Be the first and last word in this home. Speak, Lord, for your servants are listening. Amen.
