Welcome to AirChat ("we", "our", or "us"). AirChat is an offline peer-to-peer (P2P) communication and file sharing application developed by Md. Rahul Reza. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have complete control over your personal data.
This Privacy Policy explains how our application handles your information, what permissions are required, and why your data remains strictly private and secure on your own device.
1. Fundamental Principle: 100% Offline & Zero Server Architecture
No Remote Servers: AirChat does NOT use external cloud servers, cloud databases, or third-party web backends to transmit, store, or process your personal communications.
Direct Peer-to-Peer: All messages, voice calls, voice notes, and file transfers take place directly between your device and nearby devices using direct wireless radio links (Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth Low Energy, and Bluetooth RFCOMM).
Zero Telemetry & Tracking: We do NOT track your usage, build advertising profiles, or collect diagnostic analytics about your identity or conversations.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell:
Your real name, phone number, physical address, or contact lists.
Your chat messages or voice notes.
Your voice call audio streams.
The files, photos, videos, or documents you share or receive.
Your precise geographic GPS coordinates.
Your payment card or bank account details.
3. Local On-Device Data Storage
All data created within AirChat is stored locally and exclusively on your physical device:
Local SQLite Database: Your chat history, peer nicknames, and transfer logs are saved locally in private app storage. No one except you (on your unlocked device) can access this data.
Downloaded Files: Files received through AirChat are saved to your chosen local directory (defaulting to phone/AirChat/ in categorized folders such as Images, Videos, Audio, and Documents).
Data Deletion: Uninstalling the application or clearing the application's data via your Android device settings will permanently erase all local databases and app preferences.
4. Permissions Used and Why
To facilitate direct offline communication between nearby devices, AirChat requires specific Android permissions. Each permission is used solely for local device operation:
Nearby Devices & Bluetooth (BLUETOOTH_SCAN, BLUETOOTH_CONNECT, BLUETOOTH_ADVERTISE, NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES):
Purpose: Used to broadcast your presence locally and discover nearby peers within physical radio range.
Wi-Fi & Wi-Fi Direct (ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_NETWORK_STATE):
Purpose: Used to establish direct peer-to-peer high-bandwidth Wi-Fi connections for fast file transfers without cellular data or an internet router.
Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION):
Purpose: Required by the Android operating system to enable Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi scanning. AirChat does NOT monitor, record, track, or share your GPS location.
Microphone & Audio (RECORD_AUDIO, MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS):
Purpose: Enables you to record push-to-talk voice notes and participate in real-time offline voice calls with connected nearby peers. Audio is streamed directly device-to-device and is never uploaded to any server.
Storage & Media Access (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO):
Purpose: Allows you to pick photos, videos, audio, and documents to send, and saves incoming files directly into your device's storage folder.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS):
Purpose: Displays system notifications for incoming connection requests from nearby peers and active background file transfer progress.
Google Play Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING):
Purpose: Used exclusively for the optional AirChat Premium subscription (to unlock unlimited file sizes beyond the free 50 MB limit).
5. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
AirChat offers optional in-app subscriptions processed securely through the Google Play Store:
All payments, renewals, and cancellations are handled directly by Google Play In-App Billing.
We never see, receive, or store your payment details, credit card numbers, or billing addresses.
Subscriptions can be managed or cancelled at any time directly through the Google Play Store subscription manager.
6. On-Device Content Safety
AirChat includes an automated on-device moderation filter designed to safeguard users:
All safety evaluations (text patterns and visual skin density scanning) are performed 100% locally on your device's hardware.
No images, videos, or messages are ever uploaded to cloud artificial intelligence or third-party moderation services.
7. Children's Privacy
AirChat does not collect any personal information from any user, including children under the age of 13. Since the application operates entirely offline without user account registration or central servers, no personal data is collected or retained.
8. Third-Party Services & Advertising
AirChat does not embed third-party advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or external analytics frameworks. The application is completely free of third-party behavioral ads.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
