- ABOUT -
This project was created in my first year of university using Unreal Engine 4. For this project, I focused more on level design and wanted my level to give a cyberpunk atmosphere. In order to do this, I added bright emissive colours that surrounded darker colours like black to make the level stand out more. This also helped me to give the player a sense of direction when travelling through the level as I was able to use the brighter colours to point the player to the objective. I decided to really challenge myself by creating a coin system and a boss section to the game. These were used to give the game purpose and a feeling of fulfilment when finishing the game.
- GAMEPLAY -
This is a top down sci-fi adventure game where you play as a robot on a mission to eliminate the enemy base and escape. As you travel through the level, enemy turrets will try to stop your path however you can find a shield in order to increase your survivability. Find all the coins in each section to progress to open doors to the next.
MECHANICS
When the player holds right-click you activate a shield but can't move until you release the button.
When the player presses left-click they do a melee attack dealing 5 damage a hit.
Coins are surrounded all around the level. The player must collect the right amount of coins in order to open a door to the next section in the level.
There are multiple versions of these turrets. Some of them burst fire, full auto fire, have bouncy bullets and have explosive bullets dealing area damage. Most of them trigger when in range or activate a door.
