On the week of Thanksgiving at Northwest School with my Structured Learning Plan Classroom. We did a fun lesson where we tasted foods and decided which food we liked and which food we didnt. We graphed what foods people liked the most and interpreted the graph. I was suprised by all of the food some of the children tried and how much fun they had with the activity. We made a chart and the kids were able to come help color it in. Seeing students try new things was fun and a big step for some of them being flexible with the things they eat.
I independently created a life skills period for my student with Down Syndrome who went to school in a school with no special education services. We did a coffee cart and helped doing small tasks around the school and church like scanning library book and prepping things for teachers. Parker loved it and found some of his likes and dislikes through this process.
For a lenten project I created a service project for a student of mine. We made paschal candles and stained glass crosses to sell. The me and my family donated the money and the rest of the money went to operation rice bowl. We took time out of some of our favorite classes to work on this project and did not do it out in the open to be humble and "give something up. It was a great sucess and we raised $200 dollars for operation rice bowl. It was a great expirience.
