For the latest parish volunteers news
Thanks to the perseverance and pro-active support from three parishes already started to pursue their own quiet lanes, Snape Bentley and Glemsford, the plan is to ...
Phase 1: trial the new approach with the three aforementioned parishes
working in collaboration with SCC Highways team to develop and test the self-help process
to create template docs that can be re-used and streamline the process for future parishes
Phase 2: Quarterly waves/ batches of public consultations leading to quiet lanes designations
allows time for traffic surveys to be scheduled and completed where necessary
caters for the parish volunteer resource capability to schedule when most convenient
the number of lanes per wave will obviously vary subject to validation, preparedness and capacity
Continue to engage across the whole county to support delivery and collate further expressions of interest
subject to funding and time constraints, with no commitment for any subsequent deliveries at this stage
Create a communications strategy for delivery towards the back end of the deployment
aimed mainly at motorists, to raise awareness and change behaviour when using quiet lanes to 'EXPECT & RESPECT' other road users
to increase awareness of the growing network of quiet lanes and public rights of way, for residents, neighbouring communities and tourists
