The PUP Open University System Center for Research and Extension (CRE) has an inherent function to focus on the production of research, extension, and accreditation in the PUP Open University System. The center provides coordination, assistance, and related support services needed by all the units, Course Specialists, graduate and undergraduate students from the the University to produce high-quality research with sound and reliable data. The CRE expands its services by coordinating with the different offices in the university such as the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Quality Management Systems Office, the Institute of Data Statistics and Analytics (IDSA), Institute of Planning Management Office (IPMO), and the Research Management Office (RMO).
To lead strong and quality research and extension culture through knowledge creation and dissemination.
To generate and utilize knowledge and technologies to enhance the academic programs and industry collaborative projects of the University to sustain and empower communities
The Center for Research and Extension (CRE) aims to:
Strengthen Research and Extension activities through collaborative and interdisciplinary research initiatives of all the programs offered in the OUS.
Promote professional growth and strengthen the capabilities of Research and Extension personnel and students.
Conduct relevant and timely trainings and outreach activities in partner communities by programs.
Generate and develop responsive research aligned to the university agenda and the goals of all the units of OUS for policy formulation, development, and implementation.
Expand and strengthen local and international linkages/partnerships.
Increase relevant research projects from course specialists and students by programs.
Protect and manage generated intellectual properties of research in the OUS.
Promote ethical research outputs through the Open University Research Ethics Board (OUSREB).
Enforce the implementation of the ISO Certified Thesis and Dissertation Process.
Publish generated thesis, dissertations, and other relevant research outputs in refereed/indexed journals.
