Our 2025 NHL Mock Draft Has Just Been Published!
The New York Islanders farm system is currently ranked 27th by Puck Pipeline. The Islanders are probably the most predictable team in the NHL. No matter how cold or hot they are, you can make an educated assumption that they will end up in the hunt for the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. Even if they back-door their way into the playoffs, they will always be seen as a "tough out". The Islanders have a rather poor farm system, which is a daunting prospect when you teeter on the verge of failure every single year. It seems like Lou operates this team for a last gasp every season, hoping to re-kindle the magic they had throughout the COVID years. The roster has very little turn-over, so despite not having many noteworthy prospects, it doesn't matter a whole lot as very few jobs are up for grabs every season. If all goes well, you can assume the Islanders have a good chance at contending, as they do have a solid roster that is quite deep, and probably the best goaltending tandem in the league if both Russians stay healthy. However, once the wheels fall off on this project, a likely decade-long rebuild is on the horizon, as there will be no one to replace the departures.
