Short term teacher's meeting, viveiro 16-19 may, 2023

From 15th to 20th May the school IMS - IES MARIA SARMIENTO hosted the teachers Francesca Vogesi and Cinzia Ancillotti.

The purpose of our visit was to make all the conclusions regarding the last part of the project.

May 15th

We flew from Florence to Barcellona and from Barcellona to Santiago de Compostela where we arrived at about 6 pm. The Spanish teacher came to pick us up with the car and we went to the centre of Santiago de Compostela for a short tour as we had to wait for the arrival of the other partners. After having dinner in the nearby of the airport, we reached Viveiro late at night. The appointment was set for the following morning at 10 a.m. at the Spanish educational institution.

May 16th

May 16th was a public holiday in Galicia so the school was closed for students and school staff, but not for us. We had a meeting to discuss about the final paperwork regarding the Erasmus project and a quick visit to the school.



Then we left and we visited the coast, in particular; Cabo Ortegal lighthouse, Garita De Herbeira where beautiful horse and cows roam freely and Concello de Cedeira.

After lunch we visited Ferrol. In particular we had a look at the port.


May 17th

On the second day we left early in the morning. Our destination was Praia De As Catedrais (Playa de las Catedrales); a beautiful beach in Ribadeo. It is considered a Natural Monument and it is necessary to visiti it in the morning by  11.00 o’clock, before the tide rises. Then Ribadeo

On May 17th it is celebrated the ‘Galician Literature Day’, this year the attention is on the Galician writer Francisco Fernàndez del Riego. For this reason we were hosted in the town of Concello di Lourenzà and had the pleasure of participating in the Galician festival. Moreover, we were introduced to two very important people: the President of the Council Alfonso Rueda and the Minister of Education Romàn Rodrìguez.

In the afternoon, we had a guided tour of Ayuntamiento de Lourenzà, especially of Monastery of San Salvador where we were able to take a closer look at the reliquary and at the sarcophagus of a Galician nobleman who made a pilgrimage to the holy land.

May 18th

In the morning we went to school to participate in a meeting. the main topic was about sustainability in the Galicia area; water purification, wild animals circulating in the area, actions put in place against deforestation.

In a second moment, we had the pleasure of greeting the Spanish teachers we met during this experience in the different partner countries the principal handed us our certificates during a brief ceremony.

May 19th

We spent the whole day in La Coruna visiting the city. In particular, the centre of the town, Plaza De Maria Pita,the town’s heroine and the Tower of Hercules which has an ancient Roman origin and it is considered the oldest extant lighthouse known 

We returned late to the hotel where we had a quick dinner and we said goodbye to our partners.
