Award Description: In receiving the New York State Seal of Civic Readiness, students are recognized for their leadership abilities, strength of character, and commitment to community service. These students demonstrate an understanding of their local, national, and global communities. They use their knowledge and skills to help their communities and strive for a better world. Through their involvement in community service, these students have developed a strong sense of civic responsibility. They have learned how to be effective problem solvers and have the tools to work collaboratively with others to achieve positive change. By embodying the phrase, "think global, act local" they have cultivated the skills and motivation to make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond. It is evident that these students have the potential to be the next generation of civic leaders.
