NUR 352 - Behavioral Health in Nursing:

Clients in the clinical and outpatient setting have alterations in behavior, thought, or mood. A decline in mental health impacts overall health and productivity for individuals and communities. Unfortunately, the issue of mental health is often stigmatized in many western and eastern cultures. In Behavioral Health, I learned about the dynamics between culture and ethnicity in promoting or stigmatizing mental health issues. As an effective communicator, I have learned and applied techniques in therapeutic communication, adaptive coping, and crises de-escalation. Although hard, I am now able to ask tough questions to assess for suicidal ideations and actions in clients with mental health problems.
