How is your VSLO (Away Rotation) Personal Statement Different from your ERAS Personal Statement?
VSLO PS conveys why you wish to rotate at this program vs. why you are interested in this specialty. Show interest. Questions to Consider (see below).
Highlight yourself: Prior accomplishments, future goals, show fit.
Show commitment to the specialty (connect a meaningful experience) - Be succinct here and you can elaborate on this in your ERAS PS.
Keep it brief. Less is more. Think quality over quantity.
Follow Directions - If a program asks a specific question, make sure your statement answers that and adhere to word/character limits.
Questions to Consider:
Q: What am I hoping to gain from the rotation experience?
Q: Am I looking for more exposure in the type of program (Academic, Research, Community, etc.)?
Q: Is geography a factor? Is there a connection to this rotation site?
Q: Am I interested in sub-specialties this program may offer?
