The world (research programs, residency programs, employers, volunteer orgs) may Google/search anyone and you want to ensure your image is a good one (because it is 😊)! Even if your accounts are set to “private”, once information is online it leaves a digital footprint (internet = forever).
Tips:
Don’t post you with alcohol (you can still enjoy it – in moderation, of course…just don’t share on social)
Don’t use inappropriate language (e.g. bad words)
Take care if posting about subjects that may be controversial (e.g. politics)…yes, it’s great to be involved and have an opinion, however know that some viewers may take offense, even where none is intended.
DO post all things related to: career, education, family & friends, wellness in all areas, hobbies
