Congratulations to Tiffany Rowell who successfully defended her doctoral dissertation in June 2022. She has started her clinical internship at Duke University School of Medicine. We know she will continue to excel in finishing her doctoral journey.

Publication Alert! This past August 2021, our Tiffany Rowell received her first author publication, A Systematic Review of the Effect of Parental Adverse Childhood Experiences on Parenting and Child Psychopathology, in the Journal of Child & Adolescent Trauma. This paper began as doctoral candidacy requirement and blossomed into an eloquent and thought-provoking manuscript. Job well done, Tiffany!

Congratulations are in order to Elizabeth Jean, who started her clinical internship with Johns Hopkins/Kennedy Kreiger Institute in Baltimore this summer of 2021. This marks the final leg of her doctorate journey. We will miss you in Ohio, Elizabeth!

Congratulations Keaton Somerville, M.P.S., M.A.!

Congratulations to graduate student Keaton Somerville who has successfully defending her thesis, "A Mixed-methods Examination of Perceived Stress in Black Adolescent Girls."

Many congratulations to Keaton who received the Kent State Lillian Friedman Award. The Lillian Friedman Scholarship is presented in honor of the late Lillian Friedman to recognize an outstanding graduate student contributing to and studying in the area of mental health.

In May 2021, Keaton was awarded the Graduate Student Award by APA's Division 35 Section 1 (Psychology of Black Women) for her publication that explores Black women, chronic stress and trauma.

Keaton was also recently selected for the Leadership Education to Advance Diversity (LEAD) fellowship within the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. The goal of LEAD is to provide professional development, networking, and leadership skills for graduate students and early career professionals (ECP’s).

Congratulations Tiffany Rowell, M.A.

Congratulations to graduate student Tiffany Rowell who is officially a Master after successfully defending her thesis, "Examining the Impact of Pregnant Black Women's Adverse Childhood Experiences through Maternal Health and Birth Outcomes".

As rising third year this past July 2020, Keaton received her first author publication, Hair Cortisol Concentration and Perceived Chronic Stress in Low-income Urban Pregnant and Postpartum Black Women in the Journal of Racial and Ethnic Disparities. READ IT HERE!

Officially hooded! A huge congratulations to Graduate Student Martale Davis for a successful completion of his internship and defending his Dissertation, “The Acting White Accusation, Social Anxiety, and Bullying among Black Girls in a STEM and Non-STEM School”!

Congratulations to Undergraduate Research Assistant and rising senior Emily France for her acceptance into the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Program for Summer 2019.

PRADAA in Paris! Dr. Neal-Barnett, Dr. Laura Manns-James, Diane Robinson, and Reece Barnett presented on PRADAA Doula-Led Sister Circle Interventions and Alarming Stress Levels in Expectant and Postpartum Black Women at the International Psychology Conference in Paris, France in March 2019.

Black Girl Magic at its finest! Congratulate Graduate Student Elizabeth Jean for receiving the Graduate Student Inclusive Influence Award. She was recognized as a underrepresented graduate student who has excelled scholastically while performing extraordinary service to the University community. She has shown a consistent commitment to creating inclusive and diverse environments for Black adolescents girls through her work on the S.U.N. project.

Great Teamwork! Undergraduate research assistants Catelyn Dorsey, Benjamin Siglow and Jordyn Lally presented at the Undergraduate Research Symposium on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. Special Congratulations to Jordyn Lally who received honorable mention for her poster presentation entitled, “It Bothered Me: Stress, Bother Intensity and The Acting White Accusation.”
