The following design calculations are done with aPsychroAC program.
Worked Example 4 - Engineer to check Carrier E20 printouts (in SI units)
Your designer has completed the heat load calculations for a Gallery space using Carrier E20 (HAP) program. A copy of the E20 printouts is given to you for checking. Your role is to check the results with the handy tool of aPsychroAC program.
The design information you have extracted from the E20 printouts are as follows:
a) RSH = 254666 W
b) RLH = 81624 W
c) OA ventilation airflow = 3656 l/s
d) OA conditions: 32.2 oC DB / 26.0 oC WB
e) Room design conditions: 24 oC / 53% RH
f) Coil BF = 0.05
g) Supply Air Temp = 13 oC
h) Fan static = 750 Pa
i) Draw-thru fan configuration

You compared the E20 printouts with aPsychroAC results (using Carrier ESHF method) as follows:
Tdb = Dry bulb temp (oC)
RH = Relative humidity (%)
w = Moisture content (g/kg)
m = Mass flowrate (kg/s)
h = Enthalpy (kJ/kg)
OA = Outdoor Air
RA = Room/Return Air
MA/on = Mixed Air / on coil
off = off coil
Comments::
For illustration purposes, aPsychroAC program is used as a quick design check tool.
- The results obtained by both E20 and aPsychroAC programs are comparable.
- It is noted that in E20 program, Room design RH % cannot be specified unless dehumidification option is turned on. One needs to check the E20 "resulting RH" result as E20 automatically adjusts the room RH % to fit.
- In aPsychroAC, you can specify room RH % design condition, and adjust it manually if it does not fit the psychro process.
