Elective/Rotation Info
For all medical students and residents rotating with us, please note that you are welcome to attend resident Academic Half Day on Thursday afternoon (please check in advance with lead residents regarding location and AHD topics), and DCNS Grand Rounds on Friday morning from 8am-10am on zoom.
For Medical Students on Elective (You may also refer to this website for more comprehensive resources):
You will receive an email from Dr. Gnanakumar or her administrator in advance of your rotation. You will have two preceptors per week while on elective.
Areas you may consider to explore during your elective include: Stroke and Amputee Rehabilitation; Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation; Brain Injury Rehabilitation; Outpatient MSK Rehabilitation; Pediatric Rehabilitation; Neuromuscular Medicine/EMG; and a mix of Physiatry consults and clinics.

For Off-Service Residents:
You will receive emails in advance of your rotation from Dr. Francis and one of the Co-Chief Residents, Dr. Murphy or Dr. Wiegers, detailing the general principles regarding Physiatry rotations.
You will also receive a daily schedule for the rotation in advance from our Program Administrator Daphne.

If you require EPAs to be completed during the rotation, please let staff know at the beginning of the day(s) you are spending with them.
You may be on home call for the Tertiary Neurorehabilitation (TNR) Unit during your rotation, which is Unit 58 in the Special Services Building, Foothills Medical Centre. Please review the On-Call Policy here.
