“I moved to Calgary from Halifax, and couldn’t have predicted how much I would love it out here. I quickly realized you can never run out of things to do in and around Calgary. Within the city, I’ve loved taking advantage of the incredible set of bike paths to explore some of Calgary’s vibrant little neighbourhoods – Inglewood, Kensington, Mission – which all have great coffee shops, restaurants, and shops. Calgary’s craft brewery scene has recently blown up, forming the “Barley Belt” which is packed with craft breweries within blocks of each other it’s been super fun trying them out with friends.
Outside of the city, I feel so lucky to have such quick access to the Rockies. The people in Calgary have a healthy sense of work/life balance and being able to escape to mountain landscapes within 45 minutes really perpetuates that. I feel the impact on my wellness from picking up things like hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing has been huge. These opportunities to completely detach from school/work/stressors and to connect with friends have become so important to me and I am grateful that they are so accessible here!”
