Applying to Calgary PM&R
The CaRMS Match
Calgary PM&R Residents are selected through the CaRMS Match. Our program accepts three (3) Canadian Medical School-trained applicants each year.
The 2024-2025 Calgary PM&R program information for CaRMS will be available later this year.
For the 2024-2025 CaRMS cycle, below is the timeline for prospective applicants:
What is involved in the selection process?
The application process once you have submitted begins with a file review, where staff physiatrists in the program read all aspects of your submissions including your personal letter, reference letters, academic record and curriculum vitae. Based on this review, interviews are sent to short-listed candidates from the Program Administrator via email in December 2024.
What is the interview process like?
The interview will be in a virtual format, in a multiple-mini-interview format. Three stations, each consisting of 1-2 interviewers will occur (one station will be just the Program Director). Interviewers will include both staff and resident physicians. Exact time durations of the interview will be given to applicants offered an interview in December 2024 on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The purpose of the interview will be to get to know you better, including:
Highlighting yourself and your experiences leading you to an interest in Physiatry
How your experience and perspectives make you a fit for the specialty and our program
What your career goals and future ideas in the field are
Allowing you time to ask questions of our division members and program
We will not ask you any questions regarding personal information about yourself, or anything beyond what you present in your application.
