The Calgary PM&R program is comprised of an amazing team of residents, faculty, allied health professionals, and administrative personnel who are dedicated to patient care, education, and advancing the field of Physiatry. We work together to improve the quality of life for people with physical and cognitive impairments with implications in function, ability and quality of life. Our program provides clinical rehabilitation services to a large region, including all of Central & Southern Alberta and parts of interior British Columbia and western Saskatchewan. The Program is based in the Foothills Medical Centre with multiple additional sites at various hospitals and community clinics throughout Calgary .
Strengths of our program include:
Exposure to a large, diverse and complex population of patients.
Comprehensive exposure to all PM&R subspecialty areas including pediatric, burn, trauma and cancer rehabilitation, and interventional MSK (ultrasound guided injections).
Several areas of research and innovation including the role of robotics in neurorehabilitation, app development for gait training, music therapy in rehabilitation, and post-concussion research.
Our program provides exceptional opportunities for learning, self-assessment, exam preparation, and tailoring your training for future career planning in Competency-By-Design residency training. We collaborate with the University of Alberta and University of Saskatchewan programs for formative practice exams each year, and promote building connections with programs and colleagues across the country.
We hope you will consider joining our program in your endeavours to train, succeed and connect with us as future physiatrists, and we look forward to meeting you!
