Dearest friends and co-labourers of God, I greet you in the Name of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Please pray along with me:
O God our Heavenly Father, we thank you that you have told us in your Word - “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” (Heb 13:15-16). Through the writer of Hebrews, you have reminded us to offer two sacrifices to you – a sacrifice of praise that magnifies you and glorifies your name, and the sacrifice of our resources to do good and to share with others. And Lord God, you tell us that you are pleased with these two sacrifices.
So, help us O God, not to just offer one sacrifice – the one we give when we come to church and praise your name in the worship service. We do not want to neglect the other sacrifice – the one where we need to get off the pews and go out in the community to do good and to share with others. We want your love to be shown to the people in the community through our good works, and we want to share with them our food, our resources, and also the good news of your salvation through Jesus Christ. In this way O Lord, may they come to know you as the one true God who loves them and provides for them, and who invites them to join the entire host of saints in your Kingdom.
We pray for the elderly in the St Luke’s Eldercare Centres. We know that there is a segment of them who have dementia. We pray for their caregivers and their families to be patient with them. We pray that as our co-workers minister to them, we may bring them the joy of being able to talk to us and that we are able to give them the friendship that they crave.
We pray for all the children in the Hope Student Care Centre and the Anglican Family Centre. We thank you for watching over those who are in Primary 6, who have just completed their PSLE. We ask that You allow them to rest and rejuvenate as they look forward to the next stage in their school life, and to a future where they can do new things with you. We pray for all the rest of the children who will be taking their exams soon. Keep their minds alert and their memory sharp. Calm their nerves and help them to concentrate. Let them know that you are always present with them every step of the way. Help them to perform to the best of their abilities.
We pray for the needy families in Blk 223A Serangoon Ave 4, Blk 8 Lor Lew Lian, and in Blks 201-210 Serangoon Central. The prices of food have increased, and it is a challenge for many of them. We pray that the simple food we bring to them and the essential grocery items that we deliver to them will go some way in easing their difficulties. Lord God, allow us to be able continue to buy and send food to them so that they will not go hungry.
Thank You for hearing our prayers, our Heavenly Father! We surrender all these things into Your hands, knowing that without you we can do nothing. In Jesus’ most holy and precious Name we pray, Amen!
