PRAYER FOCUS

CORPORATE PRAYER POINTERS

PLMC Prayer Concerns (Serve in Ministry)

A) Laity Month - October

  • Give thanks to God for excellent partnership and teamwork between the pastors and the laity. Pray for continued unity and synergy in ministry, open communications and mutual respect.

  • Many lay persons in PLMC have multiple roles in various ministries. Ask God to doubly anoint them with strength and to doubly reward them. Ask God to help them balance between work, ministry and family, and not burnout.

  • Ask God to raise up and send more workers into His harvest fields (Luke 10:2) and church ministries; the harvest is plentiful, and may the workers be plentiful as well, so that the Kingdom is advanced more powerfully and faster.

  • Pray for more effectiveness and unity across various ministries, as one family and one spiritual army for Jesus, a tapestry of power and love.

  • Pray for God to bless those representing our cell ministry and family life, age-oriented ministries, gender-oriented ministries, worship & prayer, discipleship, missions and outreach, etc.

PLMC Prayer Concerns (Faith & Sexuality)

B) Faith and Sexuality Talks - October to November

  • For invited church leaders first; more talks and opportunities in the future

  • To educate and discuss on PLMC’s understanding and position on Faith and Sexuality

  • Immediate issue: Christian response to the repeal of Section 377A

  • Related issues: implications on marriage, family life and education on sexuality

PRAY:

  • Government will not be hasty in repealing 377A without safe-guarding traditional positions on marriage, family life and sexuality education; next goal of LGBTQ activists/groups

  • PLMC leadership will be able to find consensus and unified response to ministering to individuals and families struggling with LGBTQ issues

  • Pray over 5E's suggested by PIC that every Christian could do:

1. Entreat God

2. Educate self

3. Express Voice.

4. Equip own Children

5. Establish Safe Places for everyone, including for LGBTQ people

Singapore Prayer Concerns (National Needs)

C) Governmental Leaders

  • Pray that our national leaders will be God-fearing and exercise good authority to all, so that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness (1 Timothy 2:2).

  • Pray that upcoming 4th Generation leaders will have godly character and not tempted and corrupted by money and power. They will be wise and compassionate, balancing national security, economic prosperity and social welfare to all, including to the poor, disadvantaged and foreign workers.

  • Pray that Singapore will lead in being a blessing to her neighboring countries and the world, especially in her gifting of finances and management. God’s wisdom to build good ties with all countries and to handle difficult diplomatic relationships.

  • Pray that the law and policies established by our leaders will be pro-Christian values and principles, even in issues like LGBTQ. Pray for God to raise up more Christian politicians.

World Prayer Concerns

D) Ukraine-Russia War

  • Ukraine had won back much territories initially taken by Russian attack. With such confidence, Ukraine leaders are refusing to negotiate peace with Russia, and trying harder instead to be a NATO member.

  • Putin responded by annexing territories in Ukraine that are pro-Russia in majority (act of referendum). The war will still continue.

Pray:

  • For peacemakers to continue on stalled negotiations. Leaders to agree on peace.

  • God’s ministry to the victims and refugees of war; His protection and hope in Jesus

E) World suffering due to financial inflation, flooding, violence

  • God’s help upon families in countries like Sri Lanka hit by high inflation prices, and in countries like Pakistan hit by wide-spread flooding.

  • God’s mercies on victims of violence: e.g. bombing of students in Afghanistan, riot and deadly stampede in Indonesian football match.
