Hamword is a Winlink-based game mimicking the popular five-letter word guessing game Wordle. The goal of this game is to give hams a way to practice their Winlink skills while having fun guessing an unknown five-letter word.
You only need an amateur radio license and an operational Winlink account to play the game.
How Hamword Works
Objective: Guess a hidden five-letter word to practice digital messaging skills and test emergency communication equipment.
Requirements: You need a valid amateur radio license, a call sign, and an operational Winlink account.
How to Play:
Send an email via Winlink (either over radio or via the internet using Telnet) to the tactical call sign HAMWORD.
Put your five-letter word guess in the message body.
Grading & Schedule:
Messages are processed and graded on the hour and at 15, 30, and 45 minutes past the hour.
You receive a reply message with a five-number key:
0 = unused / incorrect letter
1 = correct letter in the wrong position
2 = correct letter in the correct position
You get up to six guesses per weekly puzzle, which resets every Monday at 00:00Z.
