Studio Tour
The Studio
With opening up a new theme park, Pinewood opens up the Studio for exclusive tours all across the massive studio backlot. Thanks to Project Pinewood, an expansion goal in the late 2000's, Pinewood Studios owns a massive amount of land for expansion to new backlot sets wanted to have more permanent outdoor sets. To accommodate the new backlot sets and overall expansion, Pinewood Road, that previously ran through the middle of the studio, is tunneled underground to allow the backlot to be one, large singular lot.
Current Map of Pinewood
The Tour
Guests load into large golf carts holding 20 guests at a time driven by the tour guide. These carts leave the tour loading platform and hit any array of sets/ important soundstages depending on what's available and not taken up at the moment for filming.
Depending on the day and availability of sets, here is the possible spots guests can see on the tour:
Paddock Tank and Lot (photo above)
A large outdoor water tank with a large blue screen to shoot a larger scene with a water presence.
Heatherden Hall
A famous Victorian Country house where 100's of famous movies were shot, used as a mansion or large building.
Location Gardens
A 7 acre garden in the middle of the lot, allowing for any garden shot imaginable.
Cobblestone Streets
Made for The Private Life of Sherlock Homes (1970) by Billy Wilder, the cobbled streets are still at Pinewood and used to this day.
007 Stage
The world famous stage (Second largest in the world) used for James Bond movies, and many many other movies needing large sets.
Richard Attenborough Stage
Used in movies like Les Mis and Jack Ryan, the Richard Attenborough Stage is one of the newest soundstages in Pinewood.
NY Street
The original goal of Project Pinewood, NY Street is a new expansion to Pinewood Studios allowing the look and feel of NY, in the UK.
Jungle Sets
Large Trees line the exterior of the set allowing a lagoon, small wooden cabin, and trees to simulate a truly isolated jungle.
Water Tank Car Sinking Simulation
Expanding on what the Underwater Tank is used for, an "attraction" is added to the tour showing how the underwater tanks are used.
Suburban Streets
Located beside each other, American and British Suburbs are built to give the feel of a small neighbourhood street right in Pinewood.
Any temporary sets
A large section of the new backlot contains open pads where temporary sets can be built for specific movies. Any being built at this time can potentially be seen on the tour.
