FYI :
(THE GENERIC COMBIVENT THAT WE ARE CURRENTLY SELLING DOESN’T HAVE A DOSE COUNTER - MDI)
Combivent Respimat (CFC Free)
It is a unique, propellant-free inhaler that uses a slow-moving mist to deliver its active ingredients. This device is more efficient as it requires less inhalation to achieve the desired effects. The recommended dose of COMBIVENT RESPIMAT is one inhalation four times a day. Each actuation from the COMBIVENT RESPIMAT inhaler delivers 20 mcg ipratropium bromide (monohydrate) and 100 mcg albuterol (equivalent to 120 mcg albuterol sulfate) from the mouthpiece.
Combivent MDI (Not CFC Free)
Is an aerosol propellant device and is administered as two inhalations four times a day. (PHASED OUT due to an international treaty enacted to protect the ozone layer by phasing out the production and use of substances believed to be responsible for ozone depletion, including some inhalers that use chlorofluorocarbon (CFCs) propellants)
Combivent Generic
( Ipratropium + Albuterol Aerosol Inhaler - CFC Free) (aka Duolin HFA)
It uses HFA propellant which has a warm, softer spray coming from the inhaler. This is currently what we have available, It is also CFC free and the recommended dosage is 2 inhalations four times daily. The dose may be increased as required up to a maximum of 12 inhalations in 24 hours.
**Therefore, Combivent MDI /Combivent GENERIC CFC FREE and Combivent Respimat (CFC Free) cannot be interchanged as they have varying dosage regimens mainly because of the propellant used.
**PROPELLANT – Is an ingredient which moves the medicine out of the inhaler so you can breathe the medicine into your lungs.
