An observational assessment tool designed to evaluate a pharmacist's ability to present findings from a recently published trial and critically appraise the methodology used.
Any recently published trial (i.e. in the last three months) could be used. The trial could be identified by:
The rotation lead
The Lead Pharmacist for Medicines Information
The consultant leading the ward round that you attend
The Medicines Awareness Service daily e-mail update
Personalised e-mail updates about content from on-line journals
Posts on social media
The pharmacist needs to select a trial paper and, if delivering the session synchronously, arrange a date and venue. They also need to identify a suitable assessor to complete the SLE feedback form.
The presentation can be delivered in any of the following formats:
Face-to-face session (with or without presentation slides)
On-line session (with or without presentation slides)
Asynchronously as either a recorded presentation with slides, podcast, blog or newsletter.
As for the Teaching Observation, the assessor should obtain feedback from attendees before completing the SLE feedback form.
