This module is worth 20 academic credits (which equates to 200 hours of learning) at Level 7 of the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ) and is usually studied over 11 months. Students are given opportunities to discuss progress with made with collecting portfolio evidence collection during their university-led personal tutorials. Tutors will also provide feedback on reflections that they have added to accompany completed SLEs and highlight those forms that lack good quality feedback. Skills@LJMU is open to all students and aims to help with various academic and language skills. There are on-line materials available, a self-enrolment Canvas site and they can also book onto seminars.

The module team recognise that students may face obstacles outside their control that will impact on their ability to meet the deadline set and in such circumstances they should inform their personal tutor and the module leader. Extensions can be granted (usually a maximum of 15 working days) or the assignment can be deferred until the next cohort's deadline. However, the university requires them to submit a personal circumstances form before any extension or deferral is granted - the form is available in the My Services Section of the My LJMU Portal.

If they wish to defer the attempt until the next cohort, select the "Non-attempt at assessment" form from the dropdown menu
Since this module has a single assessment item, any student that scores less than 50% in the assignment will be required to repeat the assignment. University regulations allow a referral attempt and details of the requirements will be provided after the Board of Examiners meeting. In the event that a module is failed at the 2nd attempt, an exceptional second referral may be granted but this is subject to specific criteria being met (the main one being that at least 100 credits have been gained beforehand).
