In the context of PDI, teaching with intent ideally means designing opportunities for children to build knowledge and transfer that knowledge into action through active participation and digital creation. Teachers plan for ways of working intentionally toward these goals. This chapter offers ideas for how to adapt digital texts and resources and build in supported opportunities for children to assert their autonomy and ownership of new ideas.
Our PDI framework integrates four core sets of PDI practices that are designed to foster students’ intentional learning through intentional teaching. Over time, students internalize what is modeled and are expected to begin learning with intent.
