Let's look at the present perfect compared with the simple past.
I have been to Canada. (present perfect) When did this person go to Canada? Look at another sentence:
I went to Canada last year. (simple past)
When did this person go to Canada
We use the present perfect for past events with an indefinite time. We don't know when it happened.
We use the simple past for past events with a definite time. We know when it happened.
The present perfect is: have/has + past participle
Here are some examples of the past participle are:
go >>> went >>> gone — be >>> was >>> been

For example:
I have just finished my homework. Just shows that you did something a short time ago.
I have already finished my homework.
Already shows that something was done before you expected.
