We use "any" with questions and negative sentences.
For example:
Did you buy any coffee?
They didn't have any coffee.

For example:

There is another way to use some:
We use "some" when we hope or think people will answer, "Yes".

Roleplay - "Some and Any": Students imagine that they are in a restaurant. S1 is the customer and S2 is the waiter. The person who makes the most sentences using "some" and "any" wins. S3 keeps count. e.g. S1: Could I have some more water? S2: Sure. Would you like any more bread?

We use indefinite pronouns to talk about people or things in general.
For example:
Someone is at the door. I don't see anyone there!
We use some and any to make indefinite pronouns.
some/any + -one or -body/ -thing/ -where
