Introduction
What will you be doing this time next week? My company will be celebrating its tenth anniversary next week. We will be having a huge party.
Can you find the future progressive in this passage?
Grammar 1
The future progressive is:
(I will be working when you arrive.)
("will + be + ing")
Compare these two tenses:
(I will eat dinner at 6:00./I will be eating dinner at 6:00.) What is the difference?
In the first sentence, the future tense indicates that we anticipate or expect something will happen, because we have some information for it at the present.
In the second sentence, the tense indicates that an action is happening over a period of time in the future. It shows that we will be in the middle of doing something in the future.
What will you be doing this time next week?
For example:
This time next week, I will be working.
This time next week, I will be sleeping.
This time next week, I will be swimming at the beach in Hawaii.
We also use the future progressive to express an action which is the result of routine.
Let's compare the present progressive for the future (I am doing) with the future progressive.
How are these two tenses used to express the future?
I'm meeting Mary tomorrow. We've arranged to meet. (arrangement)
I will be meeting Mary tomorrow. We work in the same office. (routine)
How are these two tenses used?
I'm working tomorrow. My boss is flying in for a special meeting. (arrangement)
I will be working tomorrow. I always work on weekends. (routine)

We can also express the future using the future perfect.
