The SUBJUNCTIVE is a MOOD of a verb that is used to express a wish, hope, uncertainty, or other similar attitude toward a fact or an idea.
In English: The subjunctive is only used in very few constructions. It often looks like a regular verb, but its context suggests its improbability (If I were you, I would go on vacation)
In Latin: The subjunctive is used frequently, especially in dependent clauses, as well as conditions and independent uses. The subjunctive looks different from indicative verbs. Subjunctive verbs use the same stems and the same endings, but they have different tense signifiers.
