De Gruyter – Books (Multidisciplinary) – De Gruyter publishes open access books across a total of 30 subject areas in science, technology, engineering and medicine (STEM), and humanities and social sciences (HSS). Today, we are proud to offer more than 2,000 book titles to read, download and share at De Gruyter’s Open Access Book Library.
De Gruyter – Journals (Multidisciplinary) – Publishes fully open access journals across STEM and HSS. All articles undergo double blind peer-review and fast turnaround time from submission to online publication. All open access journals are indexed by the relevant Abstracting & Indexing services and the Directory of Open Access.
Digital Science Dimension – is a next-generation linked research information system that makes it easier to find and access the most relevant information, analyze the academic and broader outcomes of research, and gather insights to inform future strategy.
Directory of Open Access Journals (DOJ) – publishes free and openly available textbooks and eBooks which can be downloaded in PDF without registration.
DOST Starbooks – DOST Starbooks (Science and Technology Academic and Reasearch-Based Openly Operated Kiosks) was established by the Science and Technology Information Institute (STII) to provide scientific and educational information to schools. Originally, Starbooks are access portals in key areas in the Philippines where residents can have access to the scientific information physically available at DOST (SciNeT), Philippine eLib project sources, freely-available online resources, and subscribed databases (if any).
ERIC – The Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), of the Institution of Education Sciences, allows you to search by topic for material related to the field of education. Links lead to other sites, where you may have to purchase the information, but you can search for full-text articles only.
Free-Ebooks.net – is a great collection of fun, entertaining selections. Categories include a few non-fiction topics such as career and business, but the selection of fiction and easy reading is what is most impressive about this website. Formats include HTML, PDF, ePub and Mobipocket, offering a range of variability for most digital reading devices.
Infoplease – It is a vast compilation of statistics and up-to-date facts and figures on a broad range of topics Subject: General Works; Reference.
Internet Archive – The Internet Archive is a 501(c)(3) non-profit library. Founded in 1996, our mission is to provide Universal Access to All Knowledge. We collect published works and make them available in digital formats. We are building a public library that can serve anyone in the world with access to the Internet. As our web archive grew, so did our commitment to providing digital versions of other published works. Today our archive contains: 279 billion web pages , 11 million books and texts, 4 million audio recordings (including 160,000 live concerts), 3 million videos (including 1 million Television News programs)1 million images 100,000 software programs
Open Text Library – are textbooks that have been funded, published, and licensed to be freely used, adapted, and distributed. These books have been reviewed by faculty from a variety of colleges and universities to assess their quality. These books can be downloaded for no cost, or printed at low cost. All textbooks are either used at multiple higher education institutions; or affiliated with an institution, scholarly society, or professional organization. The library currently includes 714 textbooks, with more being added all the time. The Open Textbook Library is supported by the Center for Open Education and the Open Textbook Network.
Project Guttenburg – is probably the most well recognized website for free eBooks and provides books for the Kindle, Nook, Sony Reader, iPhone, iPod Touch and other cell phone formats as well. These titles are free because their copyrights have expired, which means many of the titles will be fairly old. But a good classic is often hard to beat, so don’t skip this selection in your search for the best read of the year. With over 20,000 works it might be difficult to decide where to begin, but you can view the list of the top 100 to get started.
