Clinker is a deep gnome prospector (maybe more) who apparently left the underdark and was captured by the chitine. They abandonded him on an island surrounded by viscious man-eating fish until they decided his fate. He speaks in a squeaky drawl the likes of which the League has not come across. The old gnome seems kindly but strange, often taking a sip of a special flask he has named "Ol' Death Whisper", but his relaxed manner hides a creature that is nothing if not a survivor.
Vald is a lieutenant of Ulwyn of the Chitine. He has been tasked to help the party end the evil influence that has shattered their society and sent many into exile. He sometimes seems to be less chitine and more human, personalities conflicting in his mind, perhaps from his magical creation at the hands of the drow. He leads the party into the depths of the ruins of Cahervaniel.
Sir Elirah Isteval of Daggerford is a noble-hearted, "retired" paladin who still journeys from time to time across the Sword Coast to "lend a hand". A knight of renown, he is known for his tireless work defending the wild north from predatory orcs and other filthy creatures. He walks with a limp, but still rides like a champion. Apparently, some 20 years ago - he traveled with Hadarr Karayaka of Calimshan and the Dwarf - Jekk Ironfist into the lair of Drechroyaster, the Black Dragon, deep in the The High Forest east of Yartar. The League traveled into its caves and encountered its now undead form as a Dracolich and the Cult of the Dragon.
Isteval has written a letter to the Owlbear League commending them on their victory at the Caves of Chaos, and inviting them to winter in Daggerford at his home.
Nowhere finds herself "intrigued" by Sir Isteval.
Uelwen is the leader of the breakaway chitine. She has lead them away from their city in hopes of finding a place to live free of a malevolent force that has pervaded their city. She has her people staged in the strange and unfamiliar upper reaches of Cahervaniel, and has sent out scouts to
Lucern is apparently a priest of elemental fire. He has been spotted at the Caves of Chaos leading a patchwork of humanoids in an effort to send weapons of some sort to Red Larch. What power he has to hold dominion over orcs and goblins and hobgoblins and even ogres is not clear. He called for a feast to be held for the creatures of the canyon, a feast of human flesh on the prisoners they held. The Owlbear League disrupted the plans by trapping Lucerne behind a wall of ice and fooling several bugbears into bringing them the prisoners. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
Nundro Rockseeker is the brother of Gundren Rockseeker and the deceased Tharden Rockseeker. The party found him tied up and beaten in the Priest's quarters of Wave Echo Cave. He was kept as hostage by The Black Spider if needed for leverage against Gundren.
Nezznar, The Black Spider is a drow mage who sought power and riches in Wave Echo Cave, after escaping the Underdark, but let the map slip through his fingers. He then stole the map from its new owner, Gundren Rockseeker, and tried to capture him before Gundren was saved by the Owlbear League. Although his doppleganger companions gave the company great trouble, they bested the shapechangers and struck Nezznar in the face with a dagger before he disappeared. His whereabouts are unknown.
Tharden Rockseeker was the brother of Gundren Rockseeker. The party found him dead at the entrance of Wave Echo Cave. Stabbed numerous times maybe a week before they arrived.
Lieutenant Frant Tarrenbrook arrived at Phandalin as a goblin horde attacked the town and helped dispatch the creatures. He was to meet Sildar Hallwinter with his nine men to protect Gundren and secure Wave Echo Cave after they staked their claim. Fortunately, he found Gundren and the party and is helping them search Wave Echo cave for Nundro Rockseeker.
Linene Graywind is the master of the Phandalin branch of the Lionshield Costar - a merchant outpost that has had some banditry problems as of late. She encourages the party to investigate a missing shipment near Conyberry and Wyvern Tor, and complains about another shipment still missing from Neverwinter. She offers a reward for recovering either lot of good and ending the banditry, and she re-provisioned the party with backpacks and rations.
Hamun Kost is the strange-talking creepy necromancer digging up some mysterious thing at Old Owl Well. He somehow commands a squad of zombies.
Vyerith appeared to be a drow working with Grol, but when fighting the party, she gets knocked out and turns into a strange featureless creature, most likely a doppelganger. It was clearly working to bring Gundren to The Black Spider, but was disrupted by the group. Vyerith's location is currently unknown.
"King Grol" is the bugbear leader of the Cragmaw Castle tribe of goblinoids. He is working with the Black Spider through a doppleganger intermediary called Vyerith who wants Gundren for questioning. The group tries to outbid Vyerith for Gundren and the map, but Grol intuits they do not have the money and he battles with the party, driving them off, but Gundren escapes. That night, Nowhere and Orryn sneak back into the castle, stealing the map from beneath his bed. He leads the chase of our heroes into the forest with the help of his goblin squad, but they fail to catch them once the party gets on horseback.
Daran Edermath is is a retired adventurer who lives in a tidy little cottage beside an apple orchard. A fit, silver-haired half-elf well over a hundred years old, Daran is a fighter who served as a marshal and herald for many years in the lands far to the south. Upon retiring, he returned to the this region, his original home. Daran is a member of the Order of the Gauntlet, a devout and vigilant group that seeks to protect others from the depredations of evildoers. Daran asked that the party rid the town of the Redbrands and their leader Glasstaff, explaining he was no longer up for the task, and offering a 100gp reward. When the adventurers informed Daran that out in the ruins known as Old Owl Well there was a necromancer known as Hamun Kost excavating something, he seemed very concerned, and said he would find out more from his contacts. He gives them 20gp for the information.
Harbin Wester is the elected Townmaster of Phandalin. He is blustery and ineffective, and confronted the party after they beat the ruffians in the streets of town. He clearly did not want to see any escalation of activities and did not want to have the Redbrands disturbed, or it would "bring trouble".
Redbrand Ruffians is a group of thugs habitating in the town of Phandalin, and from what several residents describe, bullying and extorting and the townspeople. They battled with the Owlbear League in front of the Sleeping Giant tavern, and most were severely beaten. One ran back to Tresendar Manor and escaped, and later, when the Owlbear League infiltrated the basement, the party killed several, but their leader "Glasstaff" has not yet been met.
Sister Garaele is a scholarly acolyte of Tymora, goddess of luck and good fortune. She cares for the Shrine of Luck in Phandalin. She is looking for a spell book belonging to a legendary mage named Bowgentle. She rewarded the adventurers with three healing potions to discover the whereabouts of this book through the Banshee Agatha, but they secretly asked the creature where Cragmaw Castle was instead. After rescuing a trio of slaves from the basement of Tresendar Manor, the group left them to her care and assistance.
Elmer Barthen owned the provisioning shop in Phandalin. He was working with Gundren to attain all the supplies needed for a mining operation of unknown location. When the adventurers informed him Gundren had been kidnapped and Sildar killed, he offered a reward to save Gundren. Elmer's shop was destroyed, likely by the Redbrand Ruffians when someone set fire to his shop trying to kill the party who he was hosting in the loft of the shop. The adventurers made a collection to get Elmer started on the road to rebuilding. He has already started clearing the land and preparing the foundation for a new store, and expects resupply any day.
Iarno Albrek is the missing member of the Lord's Alliance that Sildar Hallwinter was going to connect with in Phandalin. He is supposedly a wizard of some sort.
Yeemik was the goblin who wanted to lead the Cragmaw Hideout tribe after Klarg was killed. He let loose the wave of water in the caverns that killed Sildar, and was killed shortly after leading an attack on the party.
Klarg was the fat, greasy bugbear that had captured Sildar and Gundren apparently at the direction of the Black Spider. He was holed up in a cavern hideout of the Cragmaw goblins, and was beheaded by the adventurers, his skull thrown to the wolves.
Sildar Hallwinter was a kindhearted human male of nearly fifty years who held a place of honor in the famous griffon cavalry of the great city of Waterdeep. Sildar was the friend and paid guardian of Gundren Rockseeker and was accompanying him to Phandalin in preparation of mining Wave Echo Cave, which Gundren had purchased a map to. Along the way he was captured by a group of Cragmaw Goblins, who were after Gundren. He was taken to the Cragmaw Hideout, kept there and beaten for information until he was rescued by a group of adventurers. Unfortunately, he died in the escape in a battle with the duplicitous goblins. One of his last requests was to connect with a wizard, Iarno Albrek, a fellow member of the Lords' Alliance who disappeared while investigating Tresendar Manor some two months ago, he might know where Cragmaw Castle is - the place they took Gundren to.
Gundren Rockseeker is a wealthy, dwarf merchant. He has two younger brothers, Nundro and Tharden. He became friends with the apprentice wizards Immeral and K'ronk in the town of Ulthek as they were studying magic. He hired them and their adventuring friends to escort a wagon of mining supplies south to Phandalin, while he hurried ahead. Gundren and his bodyguard Sildar were waylayed by a group of goblins and taken to their hideout cave in control of Klarg, a bugbear. Gundren was handed over to another tribe run by "King" Grol in Cragmaw Castle along with his map to Wave Echo Cave. Beaten and questioned, he was going to be sold off to someone known as "The Spider" when the Owlbear League rescued him and the map from Grol. Now he is preparing an expedition to find his brothers at Wave Echo Cave.
Who is next?
