The Ten Strahd Commandments
(Verse 1)
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine—
Number ten! Ten paces! Fire!
Pray to whomever you like, your soul is mine to bind
But listen close, for there’s a master you must serve: Strahd von Zarovich.
Number One!
The castle gates are closed, a fortress in the mist.
Thou shall not enter his castle unbidden, or you’ll cease to exist.
Number Two!
Keep your hands to yourself, don't let your greed run late.
Thou shall not steal from his state. Barovia is his plate.
Number Three!
Watch the blades you carry, watch the words you say.
Thou shall not spill a drop of blood from any who serve him, night or day.
Including the Vistani—they’re under his protection, stay away!
Number Four!
Don’t think of revolution, don’t think of a fight.
Thou shall not raise a force or army without his express permission in the night.
Number Five!
Your mayors and your burgomasters? They might lead the town.
But all serve at the pleasure of Lord Strahd, so bow down.
Number Six!
Keep the streets quiet, keep the society polite.
Bother Lord Strahd with nothing petty, or you’ll feel his bite.
Number Seven!
Idle hands are the devil's play, or so the elders have said.
Find industrious work or be assumed ready for the grave instead.
Number Eight!
Death is not the end here, it’s just a new career.
Thou shall bring the dead to Lord Strahd unless he grants leave to clear the pier.
Number Nine!
Look around, look around at how lucky we are to be alive... for now.
Thou shall live in peace to serve the Lord, or face his justice and take your final bow.
Number Ten!
He is the Ancient, He is the Land.
You’re in the palm of his hand.
