PREVIOUSLY - CAMPAIGN DIARIES 77 - ASSAULT ON THE TOWER
Invisibly, the Owlbear League and Finn from the Riptide are approching the balcony of the highest point of the Tower of Woe, passing the gargoyle guardians of the tower, prepared to attack Sundeth the Xanathar Guild military leader. They have blown up the Murkspan bridge, distracting the gargoyles, flown up from the Riptide, and are about to land on the rocky platform high above Skull Island. They intend to kill Sundeth, disrupt the Xanathar Guild operations, and rescue their wards, the three urchins.
They are also looking for the son of Ulvira Snowveins, but that is not their primary mission.
Squeezed inside K'ronk's bag of holding is Nowhere, Immeral, Dain and Finn. They only have about three minutes of air. They feel nothing as K'ronk carries them, but they do hear a noise, a droning hum from the Stone of Golorr. An eye opens on it and it speaks.
"Friends of the ant, why are you in this fold with me?" Golorr drones.
"We are on a mission." Nowhere says.
"You are going to suffocate in two minutes." it replies.
"No we're not, shut up!" Nowhere responds.
"You are right, you will suffocate in one minute 56 seconds." Golorr responds.
"Stop using up our air you bloated rock!"
"I don't respirate. One minute 50 seconds." says Golorr.
"Shut the fuck up."
"How do you know this?" asks Dain
"This can be calculated by anyone with over ant-level intelligence. The volume of the dimensional fold, minus the cubic volume of you creatures, divided by your breathing rates, the percentage of oxygen over the percentage of carbon in your expiration. It is child math for one such as I. Perhaps you could go to school and after several years understand this one calculation. You would be a great ant then, perhaps the leader of the ants. One minute 40 seconds."
"Now he's making sense." says Dain
Nowhere starts turning red. "If you are so smart, will I ever see Sir Isteval again?"
Golorr replies "It is uncertain, ants are individually unpredictable. One minute 35 seconds."
K'ronk, wearing his ring of invisibility under the power of a fly spell lands on the platform several feet away from a large wyvern. The creature is resting, oblivious to the brouhaha far below and to the north where the bridge has collapsed and the mercenary hobgoblins of Skull Island are reacting excitedly.
Sundeth, a massive 9' tall half-ogre wearing aggressive leather and spikes, pours himself a drink from a nearby table. There are piles of what look like trophies and treasures nearby. He takes a sip of his drink, then reaches into a large hole in the floor and pulls out a pair of frightened elven maids, ordering them to his bed, and they sob and do so.
Atlas, powered by boots of levitation lands nearby, obscured in a cloak of elvenkind, and immediately presses against the wall.
With little strength left, K'ronk lets Seraphina down, and dumps out the bag of holding containing Nowhere, Immeral, and Dain. They tumble onto the platform along with the Stone of Golorr, and the wyvern opens its eyes.
Kronk throws Golorr back in the bag and the fight is on.
CAPTURE P3 - 5:30
The wyvern lets out a screetch and as it rises, claws immediately at nearby Seraphina, trying to knock her off the platform.
Seraphina gets knocked towards the ledge, but the nimble halfling recovers, taking minor slashing damage.
Immeral reached out and pulls her back from the brink and immediately misty steps to move out of range of the wyvern and get away from the ledge.
He casts chill touch at the wyvern, but although black necrotic energy gouges into the great lizard's flesh it is hardly hurt.
The elven girls scream, and Sundeth bellows "What?!!" as he turns to the intruders.
K'ronk moves into the tower as the wyvern slashes him, drawing blood. He positions himself between the approaching Sundeth and the wyvern. Then he casts blindness / deafness on both of them and yells out to the party "they should be blinded!"
Seraphina casts silence on Sundeth himself in preparation of the gargoyles taking orders from him.
Nowhere moves towards Sundeth, into the area of silence and draws Icerazor and attacks the blind and wildly swinging half-ogre. She stabs him on her first attack and scores a deep slash on her second attack, blood flying from his wound and he howls in anger.
Atlas moves towards Sundeth as well and unleashes unarmed strikes on her blinded opponent, battering him with a pair of attacks powered by her gauntlets of ogre power, stunning the hulk. She reaches deep into her ki and lets loose a flurry of blows on the massive creature which does even more damage.
Dain rages and runs up to the wyvern. He draws Bloodstorm the great axe of Gorm the Bloodletter and slashes the beast with a blood-fueled howl as he cleaves two great slashes into the beast. The echo of the howl fills the cavern and the elven girls scream again.
Finn the Sharkin casts blight at the wyvern just as a gargoyle flies onto the platform. Necromantic energy washes over the creature, draining moisture and vitality from it. The wyvern screetches in fury at Finn.
The sharkin then shouts towards Dain and Seraphina and Immeral to "get away from the platform!" in preparation of his next spell as he backpedals deeper into the cave. A gargoyle flies onto the platform to attack the intruding Owlbear League.
The elven maidens continue screaming in magical silence.

The wyvern races forward and slashes at Dain, silently clawing into his flesh.
Startled, Dain reels and as he moves away, Sundeth charges in a random direction, swinging wildly and chopping off one of the elven girl's heads. The remaining one starts running towards the stairs with noiseless steps.
Immeral moves away from the approaching gargoyle, and pulling a star off his robe of stars, he sends three bolts of magical energy to Sundeth and four to the wyvern. Both hit with magical infallibility and rip into both enemies.
Sundeth howls in silent fury.
Finn yells again to Dain "get off the ledge!", but raging Finn yells "throw it at me, bitch!" and attacks the Wyvern ferociously. His great axe lands soundly into the wyvern's flesh and a large gout of blood splashes out as he pulls back, slashes again and cuts off one of the wyvern wings, grabbing it and dashing back into the cave.
Atlas steps over and punches the remaining elven maid, knocking her out and sending her to the floor. The monk pivots and turns to Sundeth and launches another unarmed strike in the ogre's kidney, nearly knocking him down. Digging into her ki, she follows with a pair of unarmed strikes, battery the massive foe. She fails to take him down, but the ogre is wavering.
K'ronk points his staff of frost and unleashes a cone of cold at the wyvern, and an icy blue beam of cold tears into the wyvern and it quickly turns to a frozen block, freezing in mid-swipe at Seraphina.
Seraphina casts guiding bolt at Sundeth, and the radiant beam hits the beastly being, scaulding him and tearing open his skin, drawing blood, but the great ogre still swings wildly.
As a duo of gargoyles land on the platform, Finn casts storm sphere on the area, enveloping the gargoyles. Several take the brunt of the storm, but a pair dive out of the way to avoid most of the effects. Additionally Finn uses the magic to stab lightning at the gargoyles, wounding one severely with rocky flesh flying out in fragments.
Nowhere dives under the swings with Icerazor and stabs Sundeth and he arches and howls silently.
A floundering blind and silenced Sundeth swings wildly and manages to hit both Nowhere and with the great sword the seems normal sized in his hands. Nowhere backs away and and he wildly swings again, the ogre stumbles over the beheaded female elf and falls forward.
The three gargoyles move in, and then another creature, a larger and more powerful margoyle joins the fray, avoiding the storm spell.
CAPTURE 1:00:00
The first two gargoyles claw at Seraphina, but the nimble halfling dodges out of the way. The third goes after Immeral, but he backpedals and avoids the attack.
Finn casts vampiric touch on an onrushing gargoyle, but the creature dodges the attack.
Immeral casts shocking grasp and hits the gargoyle with a powerful bolt of electrical damage, that drives it back, but it shakes it off and fights on.
Raging Dain turns from the frozen wyvern and unleashes a howling shield attack, leaping high into the air, but the gargoyle dodges. Dain deftly swings his shield and bashes the statue monster with the spiked shield, cracking his rocky skin.
Atlas punches down at the prone Sundeth with an unarmed strike powered by her magical gauntlets and she knocks a great silent whoosh of air out of him. She punches him again, and as he starts to rise, reaches into her ki and attacks with a flurry of blows upon the slaver's head, first knocking him silly, then knocking him out!
K'ronk stands between the silence and the storm, and sees more gargoyles coming in. He turns unleashes a deadly fireball at the entrance, right in the midst of the storm spell, blasting the four gargoles and margoyle and sculpts the spell to save Immeral and Dain from the effects.
Finn maintains his storm spell, battering the gargoyles as two more arrive, and drives lightning at one of wounded ones, destroying it.
CAPTURE P3 1:12:20
Two gargoyle are nearly blown apart, but still stand, smoking and angry. The Margoyle stands and two more gargoyles start coming in and are caught in the blast.
Seraphina is caught between two gargoyles, and casts toll the dead at the weakest looking one, but the creature shakes off the spell.
Nowhere charges over to defend Seraphina with her sword Icerazor, cracking into one of the wounded gargoyle, and she re-ups her attack, striking a few times, but it still fights on.
The gargoyle swipes at Seraphina and she gets badly slashed. The next lashes out at Immeral and lands a minor wound. A third misses Immeral with a claw attack. The fourth claws and bites Dain, drawing blood with both attacks, so Dain is hurt, but now furious. His howl draws the attention of the margoyle, and it pivots to attack the barbarian dwarf. The powerful monster claws, bites and gores Dain with its horns! He is hurt badly and there is blood all over him, but Dain still stands.
The second Margoyle goes after Nowhere, but she blocks his attacks. One more arrives, missing on two more attacks against Nowhere. If more arrive the battle may be lost!
Finn keeps the storm damaging the incoming gargoyles. The storm hurts Nowhere and Dain a bit, but it storm cant be controlled. One gargoyle takes minor damage from the storm, but a second cracks and falls to the ground, crumbling. A third gargoyle avoids the storm, while a fourth also takes minor damage. The last takes a battering from the storm, but fights through it. The two margoyles take various damage, but both of the powerful creatures fight on.
Finn points the lightning at one of the more obviously hurt gargoyles and the lightning blasts the stony creature, cracking its skin, but it still stands. Finn is also able to cast toll the dead on one of the gargoyles and the magical bell-like tones fracture the monster, knocking it to the ground, unconscious.
Immeral casts lightning bolt and the 100' beam of crackling energy strikes four of his enemies.

One (F) dies instantly.
A second (I) is hurt badly, but still stands.
A third falls unconscious (G)
The fourth (J) gets full damage and falls unconscious.
The fifth (H) is hurt badly, but still fights on.
With all this activity, the guards below must be alerted and heading for the Tower of Woe.
Dain slashes at the Margoyle with his great axe, slashing the rocky monstrosity twice, knocking it unconscious. Dain swirls his cape with a flourish of victory.
Atlas goes after the last gargoyle, striking it with an unarmed strike, battering it with several blows and knocking it unconscious.
They Owlbear quickly assesses the room.
Atlas covers the dead elf with a sheet as Nowhere and the others look over Sundeth's gear. They find out later they have acquired:
Helm of feather falling.
Ring of gargoyle control.
Ring of margoyle control.
+3 great sword.
Kron'k grabs the Portable hole as the others quickly dispatch the unconscious gargoyles and margoyles.
Immeral glances out from the platform and sees a glowing skull of skullport floating this way to investigate.
Immeral says "Skull incoming! Let's finish this and get out of here!"
Atlas stomps on Sundeth's and kills him.
Immeral says "everyone in the portable hole and K'ronk can get us out of here." and he jumps in the hole.
K'ronk drags the body of Sundeth and drops him into the hole. Immeral shrieks.
Atlas grabs the unconscious elf and jumps down in the hole.
Dain grabs the great sword and jumps into the hole.
Seraphina jumps down and Dain captures her.
Finn jumps in the hole as his storm spell ends.
Nowhere jumps in.
K'ronk folds up the portable hole puts it in his backpack and quickly casts fly on himself and puts on the ring of invisibility. He flies down the stairs to the lower level just as the green glow of a skull of skullport enters the cave.
K'ronk quickly finds he is navigating through a byzantine network of chains hanging from the ceiling.
The ceiling is rigged with a byzantine mechanism of chains. The walls are lined with cages -- and the floors are strewn with bones and dried blood. One of the cages contains a live goat, but there are humanoid bones in others. There are two living persons in cages.
K'ronk slowly flies around and sees that the one cage holds a young man that fits the description of Edgard.
The sounds of guards approaching starts coming up from below!
