I can read for sustained periods (twenty to thirty minutes) & sustain meaning in longer texts over time e.g., by reading short novels over several days.
I can identify and read the phonemes and graphemes: ‘y’ as in usual; ‘a’ as in courage; ss and c as in civic; ‘j’ and ‘dge’, g as in strange; ‘f’ as in phantom; and kn as in knowledge. I also am developing multisyllabic decoding strategies to read more complex words.
I can read a variety of different types of text, including fiction that has changes in time and/or place and non-fiction with multiple sub-topics and ideas.
I can make connections and predict in order to comprehend what I am reading.
I can use visual imaging and can retell the story in the correct sequence.
