School Characterization (Escola Básica Hermenegildo Capelo)with a wealth of natural, historic and cultural heritage, the municipality of Palmela offers a diversity of places and pleasant activities: a walk through the Serra do Louro and Vale dos Barris, in full contact with the nature of the Serra da Arrábida; a visit to the churches of S.Pedro, Misericórdia and Santiago; the breathtaking view of the Castle ... It is in this context that the Basic School 2,3 Hermenegildo Capelo is located.

The building was inaugurated on 20 September 1971 and is organized in five blocks: Multipurpose, Block A, Block B, Block C and Gymnasium.

The school has classrooms: 30 (11 are specific) and other facilities: educational resource centre, cafeteria, administrative services, SASE, management office, teacher's room, teacher's workroom, non-teaching staff room, class directors' room, office psychology and guidance service, cabinet of educational supports, computer room, social room, kitchen, bar, stationery, reprography, medical station, gymnasium, spas, playgrounds.
