" Istituto Comprensivo di Lodi SECONDO"
Istituto Comprensivo di Lodi SECONDO is a big comprehensive school (ages 3-14) in Lodi (Milan). The institute includes kindergarten, primary and secondary school, totalling 1380 students, 154 teachers and 30 office workers and janitors. These students are divided into different buildings, located in different parts of the town: the ones they would like to involve in the projects are from one of our secondary schools, which is composed of 180 students. Students of Istituto Comprensivo di Lodi
SECONDO come from very different social, economic and cultural backgrounds and have different social needs: some of them come from affluent and cultured families, but many others live in the rural area around the town.
Istituto Comprensivo di Lodi SECONDO has a lot of afternoon clubs: art and ceramics, sport, robotics, music instruments. They also participate in many local projects about the environment (protecting our nature and recycling), theatre, volunteering and active citizenship. They have a Students Council, composed by representatives voted by each class. Istituto Comprensivo di
Lodi SECONDO is really focused on language learning: we have CLIL projects for History and Geography and our students can take the KET exam at the end of grade 8th.
They finished two Erasmus KA2 projects in June 2019: one was about students participation in the school decision-makingprocess and the other one was about new technologies in education.
Every year they organise a Culture Week, which is a special week without traditional lessons: they organise workshops, meetings etc about different themes and cultures. Last year, for example, they invited a traditional dance teacher, a juggling organised a photographic exhibition about the masterpieces of Italian literature; they played traditional games, etc.
